Some Hangers (but not from Dangas)

The mid size was kicked with gusto all afternoon, especially from Juz who couldn't help but give every kick a royal roost everytime he got near the ball. Sorry nextdoor!! Even Billy had a burst on the ball with expert tutallage coming from Warwick Flapper (photos to be added)

After a Terry-ble left footer...

Our attention turned to injuring ourselves in more creative ways..

It is with extreme pleasure that we present for your etification... 'THE ALLISON GOES AIRBORNE AERIAL EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!............plus some choice camera work of Muz's nuts.

Unforunately due to a camera man malfunction the top two highlights were not captured - An absolute screamer was taken just before the tape started rolling, while Dave also managed to hit the ground rather firmly at one stage, causing air to leave his body at an increased rate, and earthquakes in four other states. Howz it taste....? Yes he deserved to cry.. and he now has worms for hair gell !!

Check back later as further events from the Geelong Cats Grand Final weekend are posted.

The morning after....

I think I can speak for everyone here.... We had the hangover to beat all hangovers. I'm never drinking again. Some very sore heads, but very happy hearts.

As usual, Dave and Shandell came through and saved us from the pits of Hangover Hell with one of their famous cooked breakfasts (which have almost gotten out of control! Toast, bacon, eggs (both scrambled and fried), mushies, sausage, hash browns, and tomato. Maybe baked beans... I'm not sure... Thanks guys. We really needed that.

As the smell of breakfast wafted through the town, the lounge room seemed to fill with people again, ready to continue the celebrations.

I wasn't quite capable of continuing, so I went on a bit of a trip with the girls to bring back coffees (real coffees, huge coffees!).

After breakfast and coffee trip, I was pretty much ready for bed again!

Grand Final night...

Now I'm going to need a few people to help me out here... because from here on in everything gets a little hazy.

I know that I did have a kip before Muz, Gaz and I headed out the Shammy (Thanks Kaz for the lift)... but then I had a few sticky drinks and it all goes a bit fuzzy....

I do know that some of the boys never even made it out! Going to bed (I'd call it "passing out") before 6pm!!!!

Patto was in fine form - in her Geelong "bootie" slippers (did you manage to get them white again Patto?). Half the pub was wearing Geelong jerseys. And pretty much everyone were yelling "Go Cats".

I know that as people left to go to OPT that Muz and I got Pizza (mmm Roma....) before walking/stumbling home.

I dont really know what else happened. Neither do most other people I think.

Fill me in on what YOU remember of Saturday night!

Family Photo

Here are some of the biggest Geelong supporters I've ever met (and I grew up in Geelong so thats really saying something!!!).

And celebrations that have been 44 years in the waiting begin!

Weeee are Geelong, the greatest team of all!

The Game - Final Siren Sounds

Geelong didn't give up for the whole game, playing like a team all the way to the end. Never loosing thier cool.

Geelong 24.19 (163) Port Adelaide 6.8 (44)

The ball winds up with Matthew Scarlett on the half-back line and finally, the siren sounds. What a way for the Cats to end their 44-year premiership drought. A Brownlow Medal, a VFL Premiership, the minor premiership and now an all-time record 119-point win in the Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Geelong players past and present flood the MCG as Cats fans rise to their feet. Jimmy Bartel cracks a wry smile. Gary Ablett grins. Coach Bomber Thompson skips around like a man whose lid is well and truly off.

“It’s bloody amazing,” says Cameron Ling. He’s bloody right.

The Game - three quater time

The gap at the final change is 90 points. Hawthorn’s record 96-point trouncing of Melbourne in the 1988 Grand Final is looking kind of wobbly.

Its BORDERING ON RIDICULOUS now! Even Paul Onions would agree to that!

Yeee--aaaahhh

Half time kick to kick

With all the excitement going on inside watching the footy, the boys decided to be Almost Football Legends themselves.

How many times did the ball go over the fence guys?

The Game - Second Quarter

The second quarter was more of the same - yelling, cheering and carrying on - and another 6.6 scored by Geelong. Only half time, and a 52 point lead already. Hard not to celebrate!

Gav up out of his chair - I'd never seen the man so excited!

High fives all round!

And more people arrive!!!

The Game - First Quarter

There was a lot of "high fives" and a lot of "c'mons". Lots of hissing, and lots of "take a bow". Generally everyone was pretty roudy, but as if you expected any less!

Right from the first ball Geelong was all over it, and with the exception of Matthew Stokes knee - all were pretty worried then. However he returned to the field as if nothing ever happened.

At quater time... Geelong 5.7 (37) Port Adelaide 2.2 (14)

First bounce

We all gathered in Karen and Gav's loungeroom for what was going to be a ripper of a day, regardless of the outcome (so long as Geelong won). The room was a sea of blue and white. With pleanty of coldies and stubbie holders to go around.

Make yourself comfy, pull up a bit of floor, and get ready for the game.

The stadium is chockers and a huge roar goes up as Geelong runs out. It’s a magnificent sight.

The Cats are the punters’ favourites, starting at $1.45 to Port’s $2.70, but you have to suggest the result is much less certain than that. There’s enormous pressure on Geelong, something that Port coach Mark Williams has been carefully feeding all week, and a general sense that we might be in for a boilover.

(As it Happened)

Can they tick all the boxes?

Its been 44 years since thier last premiership. In that time they've fell short countless times.

But they say that 2007 is the year of the Cat.

After winning the Minor, VFL Premiership, Brownlow Medal and NAB Rising Star Award - is there anything left for them to win? Just the one victory, the one that really counts, which has alluded them for so long. Can they tick all the boxes?
Karen was certain they could - she even kept the paper!

Cats fans descended upon Echuca

Echuca is more well known for its peacefull paddle steamers chugging along the Murray River, or for the speed and skiing of the Southern 80 weekend.

It wasn't London calling to the far away towns this weekend - it was Echuca, and it was Grand Final weekend, now war is declared.

With most people only traveling up from Melbourne, Murray and I were the last to arrive - but at 2.15am after a 10hr drive, at the infamous "Shammy" we sweet talked security to let us in. A decision I bet they regretted instantly. We received a champions welcome. It was going to be a good weekend.

It was Grand Final eve - Geelong Cats vs Port Adelaide Power
